MISSION TRIP TO BARCELONA, SPAIN

Sara Perkins is going on a mission trip to Barcelona to help start Cru ( a Christian campus Ministry) on campuses there.  Please join her team and pray for her and the other Midshipmen from the United States Naval Academy who will be traveling there in March.  If you feel led to donate to help cover the $2800 cost of her trip, you can put a check or cash in the offering plate, or send it to the office.  Please put Sara Perkins in the memo line or on the envelope.  You can also donate online at give.cru.org/1022505 and fill in the message section with Sara’s name.

A WAY FORWARD UPDATE

The United Methodist Church globally is praying and seeking direction in regards to its definitions and stance on marriage.  February 23-26, the General Conference, our highest decision-making body, will be meeting to make decisions about our way forward through these issues.  You can join us in preparing for this meeting in three ways:

† Praying daily from 2:23-2:26 pm for the General Conference and its delegates

† Join us for a special discussion on the decisions being made. Wednesday, January 16th for church leadership, and January  23rd for the general congregation, both following our Wednesday night dinner.

† Join us for a day of prayer and fasting on Friday, January 25th including a prayer service at 6pm in the sanctuary.

Thank you for your prayers in these matters.  If you have any questions, please see Pastor Dave.

WHAT GOES UP…MUST COME DOWN!

It has been a wonderful Advent and Christmas, but now it is time.  Please join us on Wednesday, January 9th to help de-decorate the church.  “Many hands make light work.”  If you would like to join us for work, please make sure to RSVP by Monday at 5:00 pm.

HAITI MISSION PRAYER ANGEL KITS

Free to the congregation!  Includes a photo and a bio of a child along with a wooden angel ornament to place on your tree, or in your home or office, as a reminder to prayer for this child.  Pick up your kit in the Narthex.

END-OF-YEAR-GIVING

As you make plans for end-of-year giving, please remember the on-going operational needs here at Carlson. Ministry happens as there are funds available. In addition to the more traditional ways of giving, your investment advisor or tax professional can help you with the advantage of gifting appreciated stocks, or direct contributions from an IRA. Thank you for giving to the Lord.

In the last few weeks, we have had maintenance expenses as well as some once-a-year expenses that have come due. Also, November is a month that will have three payrolls this year. Would you prayerfully consider giving a little extra to meet these needs. Thank you for giving to the Lord.
